Nelly First American Artist To Perform In Iraq

It was a first for American artist  Nelly who went on stage for a concert in Iraq to support the ethnic Kurds fighting against ISIS. He was welcomed to Kurdistan region by Ebril Gov. Nawzad Hadi.


Joined by fellow rapper Ali, Nelly then performer a concert at an annual soccer tournament, but was greeted mostly by empty seats.
However those who did attend, reportedly cheered the rapper by waving Iraqi flags and fans were reported to go 'crazy'!.

In addition to Nelly, 'Arab Idol' contestant Ammar Koofy and motocross star Andre Villa also performed for the crowd.
The concert was aimed at raising money for the peshmerga, the soldiers fighting ISIS, but was met with some controversy as it was rumored that Nelly was paid six figures for this benefit concert.
